Title: how do i fit a rear valence if i have this shyte on?
Post by: nadlad on 12 October 2009, 16:58
i want the rear valence with the exhaust cutout so my exhaust sticks out like a bad boy ganster style but i have this problem

1) parking sensors
2) detachable towbar! with drop down electrics

The towbar isn't an issue as I've got one with the 4Mo valance, the parking sensors are the difficulty but they do list a rear valance for the 4Mo with parking sensors 1J6 807 433 A B41, not sure if it has the cut out but I would think it should as it is for the 4Mo :afro:

OH WICKED!

so basically the parkign sensor version comes with the holes out so i just need to flat the bobbly plastic and paint it?  does anyone know how the parking sensors come off?  because from outside they look quite embedded into the trim?

the other thing is does anyone know where i could get a bit of chrome twin exhaust that i coudl fix onto my exhaust to make it look like steve pds exhaust. so that it pokes out?

best / classiest way is to buy an aftermarket exhaust like Milltek or get something knocked up by a custom exhaust place

yeah but it costs too much i cant afford it am gonna have to get the 4 mo valence with the twin cut out and then am just wondering wud i need to cut the existign pipe back as its turned down a bit and then get pokey fit ons added am just worried they might not sit center to the cutout  or will they sit centerly? i think ill have to get the two single chrome pokey pipes and fit them on is that right? cant afford miltek or blueflame

As above leave it till you can afford the exhaust. I didn't bother with the 4mo valence when I had mine fitted, the garage cut the valence for me

yeah but even witht he two pokey tailpipes you wont be able to tell if it s milltek or just halfords chav job? the thing is the 4mo ones bend to the right a bit so how will i overcome that? might havbe to end up goign for a the milltek system afterall

looks good jbs do the milltek cat back resonated with twin 76mm for 376 fitted do u think i wud be able to source a back box which is not ridiculously loud and just fit that to a 4mo rear valence?

r tech do it for 349 fitted there miles away though?

I looked into just getting a rear box, but it's more cost effective to go with the cat back. Not only that, if you fit just the rear section stainless, the front will go sometime so you'll end up paying more in the long run. Stay clear of the universal back boxes, I couldn't find anywhere that would touch them. Fitting cost me £50. If your after the look, then wait another few months and get something decent that will last.

yeah ure right i think ill just save up and get the cat back system for around 350, another problem..... i just read is that the rear towing eye is offset from the cut out on a 4mo rear valence feckign caaant

I'd forgotten about that! That was another reason I cut the valance to fit the exhaust. If you go with the 4mo valance, you will need to blockup the cutout for the towing eye!

how do i do that ?

will it not look obvious?

You'd need to cut a piece of plastic and glue it in place. I think others that have done it cut a piece from the valance they took off. Looks ok don't really see it. The other thing is the towing eye on your car then won't have a cut out on the valance you are fitting. Think it fits ok, but may need a piece cutting out! Its never straight forward.

Thats why I didn't fit the 4mo valance. Thought I'd see what mine looked like with a hole cut out for the exhaust. You might want to do the same? If your not happy with it, you can always buy one after.

ad probably cut it out you know seems liek less hastle and to be frank yours  looks just like the 4mo one.  i also  got them fidely parking sensors there too and you cant really tell the only thing is i may have a wire running so i dont want to cut it or there may be a sensor there?

having said the above your rear valence seems to be different to mine, you seem to have more plastic and mine is shorter in width if u see what i mean

mine seems to look lieka 4mo rear valence without the cutout?

last question how do i take the front and rear valences off?
Title: Re: how do i fit a rear valence if i have this shyte on?

last question how do i take the front and rear valences off?

Front Valance - There are torx screws inside the front wheel arches. Once they have been removed the front valance will come off. It clips on so you will need to pull and tug at it. Not the easiest thing to remove!

Rear Valance - Same as the front but there are also two torx screws on the under side.
