Have some bad news about my 1 day old G60. driving home tonight and i couldn't put it into gear. pulled over kept trying but could only grind gears wouldn't go in.
turned car off and then put in gear... start up and she started moving with clutch down. Clutch failure? alinment? or extreme gear box?
have checked the fluid for the wet clutch... all ok.
Any ideas?

if you started it in gear with your clutch in and it moved then this would relate to the clutch problem!
this wouldnt happen if you had a clutch cable but i suspect you have the clutch moved by the brake fluid.....
there is something wrong with this...........
either your brake fluid is low in the resviour!
or the hydrolic pressure this isnt working!
i dont know too much about this hydrolic clutch!
the vr6 has one and ive been trying to figure out how it works there a thing on the bulkhead with a pipe leading from the brake resviour to this thing and then a pipe from the bulkhead thing to the top of the gearbox!
you may have a split in the pipe to the gearbox.....
eitherway your not getting hydrolic pressure......
if you are getting pressure then it may be a dodgy clutch!
abit of
investigation is needed!
just looked in haynes it says clutch fails to disengage
(unable to select gears)hydrolic fluid level too high
or it says plate sticking on imput shaft splines! that would be a clutch plate fault!
is there resistance in the pedel or does it feel like its not disengaging the clutch......is it easier to press down!

sounds like clutch! thank god ! was so worried i had f**ked gearbox in 1 day!
-
before u start panicing to much check the slave cyl on the gearbox. these are a fav to go on corrado box's...
has the peddle just fall flat on the floor ?
-
nah was clutch saldy wouldn't disengauge from splin
-
Just had the same problem, not good news.... had to replace the clutch. ouch! :(
-
New clutch didn't work either!!, now replaced the master slave and it seems to be sorted, :)
Good call g-man ;D
-
Slave cylinder......was it expensive to replace?????
-
Slave didn't work either in the end >:( so don't know of cost (yet!) still trying to source the problem.....
-
could it be an internal gearbox problem? like the forked selector bits that shove the cogs around? they bend sometimes and can prevent gears selecting
-
deffo thinks its possibly a gearbox off job purple monster!!!, after replacing all them above mentioned parts and no better i think you may have to spend more ???'s!!!! sounds like dub855 has same prob from what you decribed at newark meet!, oh well at least you know your not on your own!

I take great comfort in that..... we can both be skint? :( ;)
I'm looking at Stealth racing at the moment, poss rebuild with a different ratio to give me that 'edge' from the start. May even stretch to LSD if not too costly as have trouble laying power down through 1st & 2nd.
Hopefully, I'll win the lottery this week... I think I may need to
