Wonder if anyone can help, was driving the car over to a friends who is interested in buying it and on the way over it just cuts out when I come up to a junction. Hmmmm I though its never even hinted at doing this before.
Starts fine again but as soon as you apply the throttle it just doesn’t want to know until you eventually hit about 3K and it just takes off as if nothing were wrong. Come to the next junction and the same thing, and the next and the next. I got it home and had a look about, can’t see anything obvious, no vacuum leaks I can identify apart from that piece that sits just behind the air metering unit (plugs into the airbox) it had a crack around the pipe fitting, so I quickly mastic it up. Still nothing, starts fine but still just very reluctant to rev.
Got spark, got fuel, haven't got a clue hahaha....going to do a compression test tonight hopefully
Any thoughts?

Get the K-jet system tested.
Check the earths on the engine.
Tell us what the compression test says.
Throw a six to start.

Cool thanks for the quick response, how do you check the k-jet system then? Will double check the earths tonight - just to confirm there's one that goes from the head and another from the box.

Find some fool with antique equipment and gauges, who wants to use it. I'd recommend a guy called Steph in Andover. He really knows his stuff.

pull the plug off the main pump and turn the key 1 click, see if you can hear the in-tank pump prime.
