planning on spraying my engine cover.. what spray do i get?? and can i get heat resisitant spray in my mk4's colour code (indigo blue :cool:)??

yh i spoke to him.. i went halfords and got 2 cans of hycote heat resistant spray paint mate..that does the job :wink:
you will need 1200 and 600 sanding paper too and also plastic primer and good laquer (again got them from halfords) cost £32 in total :smiley:

aint done mine yet mate :laugh:
procedure: wet sand it with 1200.. then primer it.. lightly sand the last coat of primer give you smooth finish.. then spray on your colour (2 coats i reckon should do it) then laquer it and thats about it :grin:
its just a patience game with it mate :wink:
i wet for aluminium colour and going to do the ring around the VW badge red and also the 20v turbo red :cool:

if you want to paint them in indigo blue then you need paint code LB 5N

prob with that tho that been told the paint wont be heat resistant so will start flaking after like a month..thats why i went for hycote high tempreture paint.. they had red, black, silver and aluminium not sure if they do blue.. :undecided:

well tbh i used color coded paint on my 1.8t cover and lauqer and that was on there for a good yr an d no flaking just faded a little bit :)

i did the same as the_stink and used non heat resistant paint and its fine at the moment maybe it will fade in time but i'l just re-coat and laquer it :wink: the engine cover doesn't get overly hot as itsits about 1.5 inches away from the cam cover and heat can get out via the rear of the cover :wink:

well average is between 14-18 stop start traffic is killer on fuel!! then if im a little heavy on the noise pedal as well :grin:
but when i drove to Reading last week avg 70mph in 6th managed to get 28mpg but i didnt buy it for the mpg haha

:shocked: :shocked: :shocked: wtf!!!!!!!!!... i managed get 40mpg on my reading at steady 70 mph on motorway :grin:
