Had a quick look with search button cant find nohing my 99agu since fitting pipercross cone filter chatters like mad now everyone say its bad for the turbo so the std black valve is fooked i had an old twin piston dump valve in me shed from one of me old cars i have fitted this to the metal intercooler pipe and blocked up the other hole.i now get chatter followed by psssshhhhhh is this right as thought it would stop the chatter as thought it was only doing it due to faulty valve??? or is it because i have cone filter on any ideas please?????

maybe your dump valve is a bit dry or seized, im guessing you have a piped it from dv to inlet manifold

don't forget the recirc valve doesn't let all the charge air back through, only a bit so you will still get some chatter. I get it on my remapped AGU

if you get it remapped and use the dump valve it wont chatter...your standard engine (9 psi)wont work right on the dump valve you need more psi

I got an AUM and it's got quite a lot of chatter and can make like a rasberry sound when holding at the right rev range when accelerating. Anyone know what it might be? It's got the standard recirv valve with a K&N induction kit. (I don't mind the chatter but my mate said it's not right)

Cheers.

i had the chatter noise on mine when i had a faulty dv n me mate reckoned that it was charge air rushin back past the blades in the turbo so i binned the dv n blanked it off while i wated for a 007p to arrive now look at the sh!t im in fix the chatter asap from my experience

completely misread your post. Get the standard DV or a Forge/R-Tech item back on there mate

Hi mate, you need to remove your Dump valve from the metal intercooler pipe (you dont want your dump valve here as it is after the turbo) , block that hole up.  And put it onto the other hole that you originally blocked up (before the turbo).

That will allow the Dump valve to do what you want it to do, you shouldnt get any chatter and its better for the turbo.  Could loose some performance though and could also throw up an engine management light.

Best thing to do is when you can afford it buy an uprated diverter valve like a forge 007p and put that on the car exactly how the standard one was.

edit, thinking about it that should be the same but you still need to get a recirc valve back on there

Its all getting confusing now  i did put it on the other hose the one with air filter connected to at first but it didnt make any noise but still had the chatter. i didnt think there would be any pressure built up there anyway as its only an air feed for the turbo.so once the turbo sucks in the air and you let off instead of recirculating like it would with std valve its then pushed back out the turbo which is when you get the chatter.so if i have it where it is its going to relese some out but some is still getting pushed back out.but if i stick std air box/filter back on you can hardly hear the chatter.it drives fine no lights come up or anything so will just keep it like it then as there must be loads people who run there cars with them without any problems.

dump valve goes on intercooler pipe not on air filter pipe that where the diverter valve goes , your better off going for the 007 diverter valve (forge) . if your after the dump valve sound search my home made induction kit , the sound is mad the best ever sound you will love it... :nerd:
