new to this forum,
hoping somebody on here can help!
53 plate 2.0 gti, cant get the lock to open/close on the
central locking on the rear hatch.
c/l opens door ok.
have looked at the unit that operates the lock itself and tested it, works fine.
have checked the wiring loom to the point where it heads into the roof,
no breaks anywhere.
from there on in, i havnt a clue where to start looking.
could it be the the unit that controls the c/l is goosed?
where is the unit, etc etc??
hope all that makes sence??
thanks in advance

Is the key slot horizontal or vertical, as IIRC if it is horizontal the lock doesn't opperate with the central locking but it does if the slot is vertical. Just turn it with the key.

trouble is the lock is jammed solid, in the vertical position.
lack of use i think.
always relied on the c/l.
was a nightmare to get the hatch open again.
got the hatch panal off at the mo,
and reaching through to operate it manually.
via taking the rear seats down everytime i want to lock or unlock the
hatch.
doing my head in

have posted another thread on here,
regaurding my hatch central locking problem.
going to sort my lock out,
but vw want a fortune to get me a new hatch lock,
matched to my key and car.
anybody on here can sort my old barrel out.
dont want to go to the scrappy and get another
lock, and have two keys.
-
Think it's bite the bullet and get your wallet out time. The hatch barrells seize up as they don't get used and due to where they are they just get covered in crap.
It far easier to get the dealer to match the lock set than trying to do it on the cheap as in the end you will probably end up spending the same or more if it goes wrong!

WD40, Some contact cleaner, some wipes and some elbow grease.

Agreed, worth a go if not done so already!!

have managed to sort out the lock,
i took it out of the handle, and cleaned it up,
and now can lock/unlock with the key.
but still having the problem of it not locking/unlocking
with the central locking system.
all the other doors lock/unlock, except the hatch.
have tested the hatch c/l unit and that is fine.
problem is futher back!!
any idea where the actual unit that controls the c/l is?
might be a loose wire??
or could try another unit, possibley???
thanks in advance

The CCM module controlls the central locking, it could still be the mechanism in the handle that is faulty, was there any corrosion on the inside of the handle?
-
no corrosion in the handle.
have checked the unit in the hatch and that is working fine.
just doesnt operate when i use the fob on c/l.
all other doors are fine.
where will i find the ccm module.
and is it worth replacing, or even looking at??
thanks

The CCM is bolted to a plate by the steering column, remove the lower dash trim and it is above the relay rack - black box with three plugs
