Title: Rsap phones
Post by: Booski on 08 October 2009, 22:27
a question for you chaps with the bluetooth preps in your Mk6's
which phones work?
i found a list online at http://www.google.co.uk/url?q=http://www.bury.com/es/downloadfile.html%3Ffid%3D4813&ei=N1TOStSSENaMjAfr7J37Aw&sa=X&oi=spellmeleon_result&resnum=2&ct=result&usg=AFQjCNEib50AF-85JrwvIDHyGewxTNamHg

But has anyone got any other phones that work with the bluetooth?
i have a Sony c902 - this list indiactes it does not have RSAP (remote sim access profile) so won't work but has anyone found differently??

thanks - i hope this question hasn't been asked before

Ditch the VW offering and get the Fiscon. I fitted mine yesterday and it is fantastic. Even allows me to read and reply (to a certain extent) to SMS.

Fully integrated to your stereo.

good to know _ the web site i found does not mention the E75

AND says the E71 is not Rsap compatible

so i guess we can't rely on that list

thanks for the list.  i got an N82 and it works great.

interesting to note that it isn't just nokias that work.  but, and this is a big but, lack of iPhone compatability will mean that many will go for an aftermarket solution.

perhaps i misinterpreted this, but when i ordered i thought the aftermarket units wouldn't use all the steering wheel buttons, seems like i might be wrong with the fiscon.

p3asa - does the fiscon also do all the voice dialling stuff?  My parents were well impressed when i showed them the other day!  :p

Your in luck, they are doing a free fitting service for this group as well as 12.5% off.

I fitted mine yesterday. So easy to do. The only real problem was trying to get the fascia off round the stereo. A couple of the pins didn't come off properly but looking at them once I had the trim off, there was no other way to remove it. It seems secure enough when I put it back on.

I had the whole thing done in 30 minutes. It is literally plug and play. You don't even have to remove the power from the stereo.

All the steering wheel buttons? I thought there was only 1 on the left hand side?
The right hand side buttons allow you to scroll through all the options, missed calls, dialled calls, direct dial, A2DP, SMS, phone book and can't remember what else.  The phone button on the left hangs up the call. It might do other things but I haven't had too much time to play with it.

Voice dialling? I'm not sure. Is that not a phone specific thing rather than the unit? I'll hopefully be able to get a good play over the weekend as I'm off.

Its not so much DIY - more a case of plug and play!  Fiscon have a free fitting day - but if you can't make that, have a look at this link to see how easy it is! http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/297235.aspx
You already have the factory bluetooth, so you're not going to require any VagCom reprogramming.  Alll you need to do is remove the RNS unit and pull out the VW bluetooth module and replace it with the Fiscon one.  I'm not sure if the VW Mic will work on the Fiscon kit as a direct plug and play - but if you ask Rich (Fiscon UK) on that thread posted above, he'll be able to tell you.  If it does, then hey presto - if it doesn't, then you'll need to run a Mic cable up the frame of your door!

On my R36 which has the premium phone kit, you can copy the message back to the phone via the multi function display, so yours should be able to do this???

As for not being able to reply to texts, there is an obvious safety reason as to why you shouldn't be able to do this, that's why it will only allow full use of your phone once you have removed the key from the ignition.

You can't reply as such as in compose a brand new message. You can send one of the stored messages that some phones keep in a separate folder. I've just compiled a couple basically saying I'm driving at present and will text you shortly.

found this handy guide on another forum whilst googling.

"You will find that all Nokias produced in the last 3 years or so with Bluetooth also support rSAP.
In general Sony Ericsson do not support rSAP, although the Satio should as it is basically the same Symbian as the N97, but for some reason rSAP has been removed.
The Iphones do not support rSAP
HTC/windows Mobile phones support rSAP
Newer Samsung phones (such as Omnia) support rSAP, older ones do not.
Motorola do not support rSAP
LG do not support rSAP
Some Blackberrys now support rSAP sunch as the BOLD."

armed with this rough guide, one can search for phones you like from that manufacturer and check the specs to see if rSAP compatible or not.  personally i'm keen on the replacement to the N71, HTC phones supposed to be good too, much faster than iPhones.

yes it seems that the HTC HD2 is also compatible, though not perfect at first.  it seems that its best to stick to nokias.  personally i reckon I'll get the N97 Mini.  the N900 and X6 both look good though.

thought i would share this info i just recieved from customer services:

Good afternoon Mr Hall,

Thank you for your recent enquiry. I am delighted to learn of your recent order of a Golf R. I can confirm that the following mobile phones have been tested by the factory and are fully compatible with the Bluetooth preparation:

Nokia: 3109c, 3110c, 5310xm, 6021, 6151, 6230, 6230i, 6233, 6234, 6300, 6500c, 6500s, 6810, 6820, 6822, E50, E61, E61i, E90, 8800, 9300, 9500, N78, N82

Siemens: SK65, S68, S65, S75, SP65

The limitations of this system with more modern mobile telephones are something which all of our retailers are aware of and this should be provided at the point of order.  Volkswagen does offer an aftermarket standalone system known as the Volkswagen
Touch Adaptor which will offer much wider compatibility with most mobile phones. A full list of compatibility is available from your Volkswagen retailer. It may still be possible to amend your order through the retailer if none of the above phones are
available to you.

Regards
