My In laws have a 2ltr Megane Scienic and the mother in law is learning to drive, she is 51 and the father in law rang up to add her to the insurance (chruchill) and they said she has to drive for 12 months before they will insure her
Can anyone give me any ideas on who else to try?
-
Must just be Churchill specific as I've just got loads of quotes for my daughter who has just turned 17 and obviously only been learning a few weeks.
try the usual suspects

Think her age of 51 is more the problem.
51 and learning makes them a risk i reckon.

Based on what?

think its churchill mate...
they were really funny with me on the gf insurance!!
as above really, tell em to get stuffed and have a search around if its an option!

I'd say its because of the engine size rather than the driver. Try a different insurer.

yeah it looks like it is more likely to be the engine size not her age as regardless of age she is still a new/inexperienced driver. Various underwriters have different rules eg many that we use will not cover you on a GTI unless you are a certain age/held a licence for so long etc.
That said some insurers may look at the length of time she has held her provisional due to her age e.g if she has held it 25 years for example, why has she not yet passed? has she failed loads of tests (and as such is she a higher risk?)
