Title: 6-7 month delay on 1.4 122bhp TSI!
Post by: p3eps on 07 October 2009, 18:36
Wow!
Apologies if this has been posted before...
I was having a browse through the vw.co.uk site and happened to click on the Golf SE configurator.
When you select a 1.4 122bhp TSI engine, a popup notice comes up telling you that
'Unfortunately, due to the high demand for the 1.4 TSI 122PS, engine there is currently a delay on factory production of this engine of 6 to 7 months.  However some cars are available from stock so please contact your local retailer for more information.'

Thats a bit savage!  Engine of the year, and they can't keep up the demand?  Is this the same engine thats used in the Leon, Scirocco, Polo etc?

Yeah I think that's the problem, it's very popular in all the different VAG cars with the many scrappage schemes on offer throughout europe and they can't build the engines fast enough.

I've heard its not due to high demand, its due to VW not being able to get parts for the engine. Not because of huge orders, but because the guys that manufacture the parts are struggling at their end for various reasons.

Its been on the site for a couple of months now. My dealer told me its because the engine is used for loads of different cars as Horney suggested.
