Title: G60 - Central Locking unit

Hi there,

Quick question:

Where is the central locking control unit / pump located on a 1990 GTI G60 2door? Its the original VW unit...

Any input?

in the boot on the left side, behind the rear light. its in a foam housing held on with a rubber strap

Is there a control unit as in addition to the pump? if so, where is it located?

there is a switch in the driver side door that tells the pump to open or lock the car. its not a control unit or anything though :)

oki..

I have an alarm system with remote locking and unlocking. Lately is has started playing up when locking the car. The alarm activates, but sometimes it does not lock the car.

On the other hand, it always unlocks, when the alarm system is disactivated.

I suppose the place for connection of the alarm to the central locking system would be in the drives door then....?

Any ideas ?

yeah generally what they do is put a single electric central locking motor in the driver side door, alongside the factory stuff.  what I would do is try locking/unlocking the door manualy from the key/lock knob. if the same problem occurs check the switch in the door for problems. if the lock/knob work perfectly then i would have a look at the central locking motor, could be its getting a bit tired and not pulling the pin fully.  they're generic units, can buy em from maplin and the like. just gotta make sure you get the right type, you get those with 2 wires (slave motor) and those with 5 wires (trigger motor)

Yeah, forgot to mention, works pefect with the key......

Will check inside the door panel.. :-)
