Title: gearbox linkage
Post by: bluquarta on 07 October 2009, 10:47
what can I do thats not too expensive to improve gear changes on my mk3? I have changed the oil which helped a bit but 1st and 2nd still get on my nerves being notchy. Weirdly some days it feels fine, and I dont think its weather related eg. cold. Sometimes its being a pain, and then half way through the journey after putting it in 1st it seems to loosen up.

I've read a few threads about linkage replacement and  changing some bushes etc, is this what I should be looking at? Is there a kit you can get or something? its not severe enough a problem to warrant a new box but it does annoy me!

Would more than likely be the joints on the linkage, that need replacing.

Either that or clutch/gearbox.
