Basically this stemmed from obtaining a free sample from work of some dry carbon fiber effect vinyl 3M. It was free I didn't steal it I requested it form a supplier for a project at work and they sent out a nice big piece. So as my interior plastics are sort of peeling i thought I'd take some home and have a go at wrapping stuff.
I have wrapped or planned to wrap
the ruberized plastic around the gear stick area (fitted to car)
ashtray cover
dial surround
analogue port cover.
Im going to wrap the cup holder cover anc the trims in that area once i figure out how i get it off.
I don't have any pics of the center console as its fitted to the car and the car is currently at the garage having the water pump replaced.....

It might look rather rough on the dial trim but the wrap really goes all the way in past where the dials would fit so there's no edges and cant start peeling over time.
Ashtray cover

On the ashtray i got the wrap to go all way round the raised part so it looks like 1 solid piece, no plastics exposed unlike some ebay trim kits where its jsut cut around the curve.
Lemme know you think guys.
thanks

I like it mate, should look good when you've finished

nice work man! looks better than the rubbish wood i am wanting to hide

Im sure I could hook you up with some wrapped parts if ever your interested. I plan on getting some more vinyl and some parts wrapping them and selling them if anyone is interested. Or you could send your hideous wooden parts and I'll return them to you in a wrapped state.... Why O why did they (vw) use that wood?
Thanks for the comments guys.

for the cup-holder. there's 2 metal prongs either side once you open the flap, squeze them and then it should pull out.
for the side trims, you should be able to slide them down maybe something at the top and prizing them downwards. thats what i done and the clips didnt break. but still be carefull
Looks good by the way

Looks smart mate, and god knows why vw used the horrible wood effect trim
