Hi guys,
Am wondering whether anyone can help me in securing a set of GTI english manuals. I have been told by my stealer in the Netherlands that they cannot get me the english version. I cant read Dutch so the one that is supplied with the car is mostly useless to me.
I will gladly pay for postage and effort...

Have you tried calling either UK or German Customer Services?
-
You should be able to order it from your local VW dealer, even though you did not place the order with them
-
Hi, when I ordered the car, I did order the english manuals with it. But somehow... my dealer here is unable to get the manual in english. On Monday, I will call Wolfsburg and see how we can solve this.
Thanks for the inputs..

don't worry, no one reads the manual anyway... they post up in this forum instead!!

Your dealer is a lazy f**k, he just does not want to bother because you did not buy your GTI with him

Agreed. Doesn't the manual have a p/n which would mean he can order it?

Does it matter whether it's a left hooker manual or a Queen's highway side manual? If you can put up with an RHD manual I'll give my local stealer a shout and see what they can do, but I know of a guy on another forum who just may be able to source one in LHD assuming you can get those in Euro spec in English language. In fact he has his own ebay shop so you could in theory contact him directly, dsgwagen is his ebay i.d.

As Fred said someone should be able to give you the part number from the english one and just order it throught the parts dept.

Hi there, no it does not matter which side as I just want to know how what is what. Thanks for the info. I will check on eBay... Will let you know developments...

He won't have any manuals listed on ebay, but he's an enthusiast parts dept guy and will have access to VW's database at work.
Best way to contact him would be via a message on ebay.

Quick update HM, phoned my local dealer this morning and gave him the part numbers off my manuals and he said they were on ' back order'. He sounded really busy and so I didn't press him too much. He said he'd call me back later about that and the door seal lubricant. He hasn't called me back yet and every time I've tried phoning the reception lady says the line is busy. Sounds like a bit of a busy Monday for them. I'll try 'em again tomorrow and if they aren't any better there's another dealer 20 miles away I can try too.
-
Thanks Exonian!!! I appreciate all the effort on your part... Will be patient...
-
Okay HM, update time.
Sorry it's taken a while but I've had a manic couple of days and the dealer hadn't phoned me back (as expected).
I phoned again this afternoon and spoke to a much more helpful chap, he tried the numbers off the manuals but was unable to find them listed individually. He said this was probably due to the new-ness of the car as he could find mk5 ones easily enough.
He could only find the whole service wallet listed, this comes in at a hefty £52.70, and talking of hefty it is also quite hefty in weight so would cost a few quid to post.
I mentioned left hand drive manuals in English and he just made some funny noises, so I think that's a no!
I can give you the individual numbers off each of the booklets if you wish as you may have more luck ordering them individually over there being as the car was released over there a while before we got it?

How big is the current GTI manual ? i.e. how many pages ?
If its not too big, when I get my car I can scan the manual and pdf it if that helps ?
-
116 pages, and that's not including the radio manual!
I'd have done it already otherwise.

So thats basically 58 double page scans, I could do that fairly quickly enough in work.
I'll see how it goes.

Wowzas.. That is expensive.. I still am waiting for a reply from Wolfsburg.. Thats Exonian for your efforts. Can you pass me the part numbers for the manuals please. I will make one last attempt with my dealership and see how it goes.
Kev: Thanks for wanting to scan the manual for me. I had hope the dealership would have offered to do it. But that would be asking too much.
Again, I really appreciate all the help..
Cheers!

Okay, I'm back after a weekend of internet connection woes and a day of mk6 spotting at Castle Combe.
The numbers on the back of the books are as follows
Index: 291.551.6TI.20
Service Book: 251.557.RK2.20
Safety First: 291.551.6TS.20
Controls & Equipment: 291.551.6TB.20
Driving: 291.551.6TF.20
Tips & Maintenance: 291.551.6TR.20
And I've only got the pauper's radio so I guess you won't want the number of that booklet?
I reckon the only one of any use there is the Controls and Equipment book which is 143 pages long. :nerd:

The RCD510 manual is already online in PDF style. If that is any help.

Hi Exonian,
Again thanks mate, your post with the codes are so helpful. I have passed it on to my dealer. Hopefully all will be sorted soon.
I really appreciate the help and effort...
Cheers,
HM

No problem at all.
Hopefully you will be sorted soon.
Meanwhile if there are any specific things you want to know from your Dutch manual that are baffling you, I can tell you what the English one says on the same page!
