Title: HELP
Post by: lowrider on 02 October 2009, 15:01
my girlfriend took my golf out today and the oil light flashed on so she checked the oil and it was apparently almost dry so she decided to fill it up and has now over filled it by a long way!!!! and ideas how to solve this? and the oil light is is still on! i had the engine washed down about 10 minutes before she went out so im hoping the electrics arent knackerd too

and to top it off she managed to spill oil all over the cambelt

i relly hope my golf isnt dead!

ohh no not having a good day then lol.

You should drain the oil from the SUMP. until its at the correct level.
and try your best at cleaning the cambelt. wouldnt like to do this myself. maybe fit a new one. would be the safest option.
as oil perishes the rubber :(

Being overfilled could have damaged the cat and engine.

Dont you have a trolley jack?

Your gunna have to drain it, otherwise bang, and you'll wish you had tried harder

You dont have to lift it that high to get to the drain plug.

i think it maybe fixed *fingers crossed* emptied out the oil and got it to the right level and all seems to be going ok no smoke or horrible noises after the car had been left to idle for 10 or 15 minutes and no sign of the oil pressure light apart from the first 2 or 3 seconds after start up

so hopefully all good

Should be fine now then.

Just check/or get the cambelt checked out now. should be ok, but you never know. Or if you can try dry some of the oil off with some kitchen roll/bog roll....

Anyway hope its ok now.

Lowrider - is your lass blonde by any chance??
