Title: Low MPG
Post by: DYL4N on 02 October 2009, 13:19
I've recently fitted a K&N cone filter, and N75j valve to my 20v Turbo Mk4 Golf....

I've noticed im now getting 20-25mpg.....is this normal?

drive slower? stop making it "dump" that works for me

I get 25-30 average over a tank if it makes you feel any better?

Short journeys and sat idling do no favours for fuel economy

Are you're tyres are inflated properly?

its possible the cone is too small for the engine, or it's killed your maf

I got told changing the temperature sensor could help mpg, as the sensors go faulty and the car puts in more fuel.  And it actually did work for me! Cant remember how or why it works out though.

wow, that is low lol, like said its probaly the induction kit killed your maf meter. My 1.8t motor runs around 35mph pottering around. If i drive it carefully on a longish run then that geos up around 45

If i drive it like it should be though then i get around the 30 mark.

I'm going to take the induction kit off, and put the standard box back on.

Is it possible to clean the MAF?

you can if careful but tbh replacement is probably the better option
