I have a rattle from under my engine bay, i have put draft proof tape on everthing that could posibly move (just like numberplate pads) and its still there at about 3200 revs! Any ideas?????????

Exhaust manifold heat shield? Could be any number of things? If it does it at standstill when revving the engine then the obvious thing to do is lift the lid and listen around while giving it some throttle.
-
Yer i have tried doing that and it seems to be purely a driving along thing. I will have it on the ramps on saturday anyhow for an oil leak so i will ask the mech to check for anything

I had this problem - turned out to be the bolt that secured the water pump was lose! If you rev you engine and watch the bolt/pump you can tell whether it's rattleing or not.
I know your pain man, the noise almost drove me insane as it only started at 2/3rpm. Oh and mine is a 16 Valve, I hope this helps

I can't hear anything over my exhaust, ha ha!

bottom bolt on alternator, had bottomed out on the threads, not the mounts, rattletastic
-
What exhaust have you got? Ive got a mate who has a stainless one on (cant remember make) and the baffles have started to go in it and make a rattle sort of noise at a certain revs.

had the same problem, it turned out to be the exhaust heat shield which runs over the exhaust to the rear. The metal is very soft and can easily be bent out of shape and come in contact with the underside of the car, it was a bit fiddley to fix

+1 heat shield just clips onto pipework and rattles like a twit when loose!

yer i dicked about with the heatshield and it got a wee bit better then went back to normal, i found a loose piece of metal as well running down the front of the rad, will try tightening this too....

You might want to check its not pinking as that could shorten the life of your engine a fair bit if left alone. What fuel are you running?

Im running it on 99 octane. Either tescos or Shell v power. Tent to go for vpower as thats what the car is mapped for
