Title: Engine code HELP PLEASE

My old 8v engine has had it so now i have to convert to 20vt, not worth putting the same engine back in. I just want to know what engine code 20vt should i get for the conversion and what gearbox so i can get started in finding one. Please dont tell me to go on the search function as ive been there for hours and have not found a clear answere.

Hi,

U should look for the AGU engine code,with drive by cable.Strong up to 350hp and got bigger valves.Early gti's came with it till 2000.Also can find it in Skoda or Audi.

Gear box code your present one or else look for a AMC code,came off AGG or 2E engines from MK3 8v.Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot mate really needed the help. How much power will a amc code gearbox take, i want at least 220 to 240bhp but mayb in the future will want more, will that gearbox be strong enough. Also what clutch/flywheel do i have to use. Do i still use my mk2 driveshafts? Thanks for any help, will be posting pictures as soon as i get everything together to get started.
