Have now acquired the finishing touch to my car - a set of Hella quads in good condition for the sum of 50 quid... Done the deal on Pistonheads last night and got one of the drivers at work to collect them this morning so don't even have to pick them up. Great Will add pics the weekend when fitted. Deano

Congratulations on the amazing purchase that is Hella Quins
They the smoked ones or the non-smoked ones?
-
Well done Deano! Good price too!
-
haha i knew shady would be on your case about calling them Quins!! :P
I got a set off GTiAdam or as its displayed now...just Adam! lol!
£70 including P+P which aint bad considering they have to get shipped to the Channel Islands :P
Also i think he deserves a shout as it was done quickly and before i knew it they were down! and on my car!
They do look wicked!
-
Ahh well you know what I'm like
Adam is a good lad, personal friend of mine, good that he got them to you so quickly. I don't think I could sell mine as they are in perfect condition, everyone else's I've seen seems to have a chip, scratch or dent somewhere.

Alright Mate Don't know if smoked or unsmoked yet as I have not seen them. The guy was a bit of a novice and could not tell me much about them. All I know is they were advertised as in very good condition and fully working. They are in white so will be prepping and spraying Dragon Green anyway. Won't see them till tomorrow when our driver gets back from London but will work through the night to get them on tomorrow night. Will let you know and add pics this weekend. Deano

Hopefully they are the smoked ones as they go better with the colour of our cars :)
I saw some colour coded on a Dragon Green MK3 on eBay, and I quite like it, it's something I'm considering doing too.

Look better black, they look horrid colour matched.

Personal taste at the end of the day, not everyone has the same opinion.

I respect that but having seen Green, yellow and a red one with them colour matched to me it looked horrid, at least black they help break the front of the car up a bit.

I'm with Wayne on this lol
In fact I told you this on msn Shady
-
Wouldnt have mine black!
-
I agree with len and joe tbh
-
Agree about certain colours.
Billy had a yellow CC and put black/carbon ones on an it looked great!
Red maybe the same but mine definitely look better colour coded.

On a dark blue it dont look right, i do agree. Didnt on mine.

As Shady says its down to personal taste and I think better in Green. Will be putting pics on Saturday (weather permitting) for everyone to have a look and decide. It may be that I don't like green in which case I can easily convert to Black. But just feel that I have to try Green first. Should be interesting over the weekend with the comments. Cheers Deano

I have them black on my GTi think they would look wrong colour coded on a White Golf...agree with the majority here

Mine was black, never bothered painting them.

I do agree it is down to colour of car. Some would look better in black and others colour coded. I just think the Dragon Green would clash with Black although Shady's look good which go's against this theory. But for example the white (pictured above) would look sick colour coded. Wayne's look great in Black but his car is dark and carry's it off very well. Deano

I was wondering how long it would take before you noticed!
Gotta give shout outs to the good guys!! so many robbing cnuts out there lol
-
Finally got the quads sprayed and fitted. Used Halfords paint thinking it would cover the white covers easily but had to use two full cans of Dragon Green!!!!! Still I think they look the part and finish it off well for me. What do you think??

Sorry Mate not looking to offend anyone   It's all down to personal taste. If you're happy with how your motor looks then you will enjoy it more!! Now I'm just thinking of a badgeless grill and got my eye on a private plate if I can persuade the missus to let me have them both!!lol

your car needs neither! it needs lowering and a vr splitter
-
Sorry but carbon ones would look better, needs lowering asap plus tyres ruin it being that big.
-
Hi Shepgti The back is lowered already and looks good. I have the lowering springs (front and rear) for a Mark 2 (40mm) but can't find any top mounts for the Mark 2. Have advertised on here with no luck. Would swop with a Mark 3 set but again no luck anywhere. What's the difference between the GTi and VR6 splitter?? Don't suppose you have pics?? Also the private plate is a must I think!! Cheers Deano
-
The back of your car doesn't look lowered mate just looks like your shocks and springs are fecked. My VR6 sits exactly the same.
And a VR splitter is deeper. See my sig.

That is not lowered, a set of the correct size tyres and a 60mm drop would improve it 100%.
-
Thanks Guys When I bought the car with the standard GTi alloys on the back end was defo lower than the front. The shocks and springs are not knackered as the ride is immaculate?? As earlier stated I want to lower it all round by 40mm and have springs for the Mark 2 waiting. I don't think I can go any lower as I regularly have to ferry about the missus and 2 kids in the back!! Cheers Deano

With the correct size tyres, a 60mm drop would not cause any problems
