Recently bought a MKIII VR6 here (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=130633.0) and I have no complaints other than the lights are really really poor. Is this common or do I just need to sort out some proper high-intensity bulbs?

They might need adjusting by the sounds of it.

same here, mine were poor, then spent £30 on some brighter bulbs, still not much of a difference so spent £70 on a HID kit. Its well worth the money and its like driving in daylight all the time, go for the 6000k type as its not chavvy and wont get you pulled by the picky cops.

Check they are adjusted all ok, then try uprated bulbs maybe.

Well my eyes are a lot older plus I have driven many cars!
I think this is a case of experience counts.

Projector lamps with normal halogen lights are poor. Hellas jumpinto action with a set of HIDs.
