What's your budget?!?! Prices quoted below are very approximate and sometimes on the high-side (I have expensive taste and am v picky with garages).

Induction (?60, but ?100-?160 fitted), combined with a decent stainless cat-back exhaust (my Milltek beauty was ?275+VAT, fitted) is a good start.

Gas flowed head (approx ?900+VAT, fitted) / high lift cams (around ?700, fitted) are great, but pretty expensive, even if you go DIY / get somebody from the site to help you, they're not cheap! I think I was looking at ?400 + labour to do the cams myself, but ?700 got a good garage, a guarantee and remap.

Once you've done as much / little of the above as you want, then get it remapped to suit your mods. Best value for money, but get it done afterwards. Better fuel economy, much smoother power... plus a few bhp extra ;) Cost anything from ?30-?350, recommend spending ?100-?150 and getting a dyno (rolling road) run at the same time.

Mine was 142bhp & 148lb/ft with the 1st remap, PiperX induction and Milltek Jet cat-back exhaust... not sure now (cams and new custom remap), but guessing 155+ @ the flywheel, hoping for 160ish when I give it a power-run in a few weeks!

Standard 8v is 115bhp & 122lb/ft, so not soing too badly.

i too am wanting to start modding my 8v..

just got it remapped/tuned/rolling roaded at the weekend and oh boy what a difference - ?100 all in. very smooth and it just keeps on going!!!  ;D  the guy put in some injector cleaning stuff plus a teflon substance to coat all the working parts. the engine is so much quiter now ...

without any mods and just the tuning/remap its coming in at 130bhp... is this possible if the standard is 115bhp?

that power is on the high-side for just a remap, but plausible... you sure you not got decent filters / induction in there already... that sounds like a great remap job - RR time, plus ECU work for ?100 is good. Where was that?!?! Cutomised remap (several runs with tweaks) or did they just dump their software on there?

Induction/filters and a decent exhaust (Milltek sports "Jet" is great, if a little loud)...? will get you around 140+bhp if you're already on 130.... mine was at 142bhp after those mods.... pretty sure it was nowhere near 130 with just the remap!!

laters!

seems like i got my wires crossed here. :-[ didn't get a remap. for the cash i spent - tuneup, rolling roaded plus a diagnostic test.  the engine is still completely standard and the guy did say the engine bhp is coming out at 130?? i'll need to check my report and make sure.. seems like it is pretty high for standard engine with a tune up..  ???

i think a remap is alterations made to the way the ECU works/is set up, possibly a chip? again i don't know much about all this sh*t as you can see above  ;D

i got my motor tuned up at an independant car tuning clinic. where are you based?
