Title: BBS RX2 (II) Info
Post by: funkyfive on 29 September 2009, 15:30
I am just about to invest in a new set of RIMs.

I've been told they are off a Mk4 and are there any issues with them on a Mk3 eg. spacers, caliper rubbing etc..?

What is the difference between the Mk3 and Mk4 BBS RX2 Rims?

If they are from a mk4 the tyres will be too big.

Tyres are 195/45/16 V

Does anyone know if the offset is different to my current standard GTI alloys?

195/45/16 is correct tyre size, offset is 43 which is the same as standard longbeach alloys http://boneybradley.webs.com/thewheels.htm

the only issue you could have is the rear bearing covers and fitting the center caps as they stick out a few more mm on the mk3...some people run without (not recommended) or slightly flatten them (press the dome in a bit with a small hammer)

Bradley you're wrong. I had no issues with the bearing caps.

Just run 3mm spacers.

The need for spacers will be purely aesthetic, there is no fouling whatsoever.

maybe not but it will help with clearance on the front brakes and rear dust caps.

Same issue happens with TT comps and some mk4 alloys.

Well mine didn't, and I've changed the rear discs and bearings changed since as well, so that's 2 bearing caps I've had no issues with, hence my reason for saying.
