Title: wiring problem mk3 2.0L gti into mk1 caddy ,trauma

hi ive got trauma got a mk1 caddy im putting in a supercharged mk3 gti 2.0l 8v got the lump in got the nearly ready to run but ive got no spark ,dont know where the three wires to the coil go the green goes to the ecu i got a black one and a brown one left over any ideas where do they go??

where axactly are they ? ill have a look tomoro afternoon on me old 2 liter

are they on the little plug on the bottom of the distributor? hall sender???

all ive got is a pure black and pure brown they might just be live and earth but if they are then i have a problem with the ecu wiring, ahhh

brown is earth, black is ignition live, these run direct to the fusebox.

dose anyone know were the grey coroplast wire (triple, yellow white and black with grey sleeve) from the ecu goes into the fuse box ???

sounds like it could be for the lambda?  has your wiring loom been cut

yeah i would say thats for the lambda probe, the yellow and white wires are the lambda signal wires, the black wire isnt connected to anything at the plug end as its just a shield wire. there should also be a red/white and a brown which is power & earth for the lambda heater.

you'll need to chop this plug off a donor car in the scrappy, and also as musch of the wiring from this plug to the lambda. then you can get a universal lambda probe and attach it to the loom you chopped off, then plug it into the car loom. I wouldnt bother with a 2nd hand lambda, and make sure you buy a quality bosch/ngk probe.

the plot thickens , what is a lambda probe ,er what dose it do a and does it stop it running??

it sits in the exhaust and tells the ecu whats going on with the mixture so it can adjust. it will not stop the engine from running though!
