Title: Gti head on caddy engine?
Post by: t111bul on 25 September 2009, 12:24
My friend had a 1588 carb caddy and the head is f*cked! His seen a head from a 1600cc gti and he wants to know if he can make it fit? Is it possible as of course the gti is injection?

Thanks in advance

Tim

if it works on same basis as mk2 1.8 carbs and gti's then it should be. but you'd have to drill coolant channel.

i could of course be talking crap, as my knowledge mostly lies in the mk2 lol

From memory, Golf 1.6 GTI head is flat and the combustion chamber is in the piston but I am sure it is the other way round on the carb engines.
