Title: Price of the Golf R
Post by: Golf R on 24 September 2009, 12:48
Has anyone found the price of RHD Golf Rs?

I was going to order a Mk6 GTI but the new Golf R looks great.  One of the posts here suggested it might be over £31,000 after looking at the German price list.  If it is £31,500 plus £1500 for the automatic thats £33,000 which is close to price of the car I'd really like, an Exo X FQ-330 SST.

£10,000 more than I expected to pay for the GTI, gulp.

Yes that would be quite a deal if the aston was priced in euro's  :lipsrsealed:

*Just in case you didnt know major companies buy their currency well ahead of changes and also have securities in place to cover short falls :nerd:

Consensus seems to be £26,500-28,000 for basic 3 door.
So decent spec 5 door DSG (with leather, sat nav, 19" alloys etc) will be £32,500-34,000.

Don't forget Xenons, Winter Pack and Park Assist (without camera) will come standard.

I still don't know.
A 24K GTI, a 32K Golf R, or a 36K FQ-330 SST.
If the R is less than 28K then that's the one

Just priced a GTI in blue.  With no extras it comes to £25,315.

Heart says Evo, Head says GTI.
In 1997 my BMW cost £34,000 and I've kept it for 12 years.
I'd aim to keep the new car for a long time, more test drives needed....

If I were keeping a car for that period of time I would rule the evo right out. Running costs, image and hard ride would not be something that I would want to live with for 10yrs
.

It would be the Golf everytime... but with you keeping it for such a long time I would opt for the R. No doubt with its high price and being somewhat exclusive, it will hold its vaule much better and keep a smile on your face for a long time to come.

But if your heart says Evo, then Evo it must be.

A mate got a nearly new Evo X 300 SST for 25k. He loves it and its actually pretty refined. The engine is fairly quiet and the ride is quite comfortable. He also got 5yrs interest free credit on it!

A nearly new 330 should be well within a 30k budget.  Though tbh if we're talking second hand, most things are at this price range!!

Mitsubishi offer an upgrade from FQ-300 to FQ330 for £3000.  It involves exhausts and things.
Damn difficult, maybe I should just buy another 3 series.

When I bought Brian in 1997 (328i) I could have bought a Mk4 GTI or an Evo V.
I have a feeling that I would have enjoyed the last 12 years driving the most if I'd bought the Mitsubishi, don't forget at that time all BMW drivers were c0cks

The Mk4 GTI I did not like to drive, sorry Mk4 men, it's still a worthy car. :nerd:
