Title: Green and Black Wire - Help Please
Post by: jimojameso on 23 September 2009, 17:25
Hello chaps

Need some help please. I have been rebuilding my mk2 gti 16v and i have one wire left and i don't know where it goes. It is green and black and has a spade connector on the end. You can see in the picture where it comes out from and is not very long so can't go far. I took pics of where most wires went but i missed this one. Could someone pop their bonnet and have a look for me please?

Thanks

James

if memory serves it needs to go to the negative side of the coil as it is the rpm signal for the rev counter

Should be a sender on the back of the head near to the rhs corner

Surely it goes to the oil temp sender switch in the top of the oil cooler housing? The one that sends the reading to the MFA?

i agree, back of the head r/h side for the oil temp display on the MFA. hold a mirror behind the head and u will see a little sender screwed into the head. mine snapped off a while ago resulting in no oil temp displayerd on the MFA

Yeah sorry, mines an 8v pb so just assumed yours was too for some reason.

Still oil temp sender wire but it sounds like your sensor is in the head wereas mine is in oil cooler, your looking for a little bolt with a head like a nail on it.
