Mine is Prospero.
My first-ever car was called Miranda ("she who is worthy to be admired"), due to whisking me up the M6/M74 in record time one Christmas ever just after I got her. Only a 1.1L Fiesta, but a nice little runner.
The second was definitely a boy (an XR2) and became Ferdinand to match.
The third, the Peugeot 306 GTi-6, was Ariel, because he was absolutely magic.
This is my fourth-ever car, and continuing the Tempest theme he has to be Prospero. Well, he's magic too, but much more grown-up magic.
BTW, gorgeous, isn't he?

Err... we just refer to ours as 'la Golf', as opposed to 'l'Espace' or 'le Transit', our other 2 vehicles.

Dare I say a quaint British foible?

I've always found 'the car' sufficient...and despite there being several I could be referring to, people always seem to know what I mean.
The only time that seems to change is when it breaks - then I find 'that piece of sh!t' works for me.

I have adopted a similar stratergy and quite simply named it... "my car". Should this not identify it, its second name is used... "that one there you blind barsteward".

Accompanied by an outstretched arm, pointing finger, and look of disgust, I hope?

I usually find a condascending roll of the eyes, and a long - overly exagerated - sigh works a treat too.
It says 'thicko' without using any form of verbal communication.

You really are tedius, aren't you?
Just because we don't all think it's the greatest car in the world, and are happy to fetch the shopping in one...you have to get all arsey over it?
Grow up Kev...or are you still sore from posting incorrect crap, and being corrected all the time?
Oh, and I don't have a Morrisons near me.
-
Isn't this a bit of a girly thing?

It's a car FFS.

I personally thought that was quite amusing from Kev,afterall it was you who said you used your GTI for shopping trips. So he was being funny not arsey. If I say to you to "lighten up" I'm not being funny, just laugh it's meant to be fun this forum you know!!!
-
just received a message from ess_three - he's out doing the weekly shop at the moment but will respond to everyone once he's packed his shopping away

Here Ladyboy, I wouldn't PM you if my life depended on it.
I was actually doing something infinately more exciting than responding to you - watching paint dry.
I did my shopping yesterday...

glad to see you are giving your GTI a weekly run out

so let's get this straight - you don't own a GTI yet you're commenting about them in a GTI forum. hmmmm.

Assumption again - you are about as bright as your special mate Kev.
I own a GTI and have done for the last 13 years.
A Mk6?
Who says you have to have taken delivery to post on here?
Your special sidekick Kev doesn't appear to have collected his new shopping car yet?
You know, you more you and Kev speak, the more stupid you seem.

have you ordered a mk 6 GTI? if you haven't please bore off. and well done on owning a GTI for 13 years. is that the same car or have you changed? you must be an expert on GTI's then. i bow down to your superior knowledge. if only you showed said knowledge in your posts eh.
by the way don't you have some more shopping to do? are you secretly a tesco delivery man? that would make sense.
-
have you ordered a mk 6 GTI?
Might have...but that's my business and not yours.
Besides, maybe you could point me to the bit in the rules that says it's your forum and only Mk6 owners with your premission can post?
I'm struggling to find it...
if you haven't please bore off.
No thanks...it's just too much fun watching you make a complete t*t of yourself daily.
and well done on owning a GTI for 13 years. is that the same car or have you changed?
Ahh...that didn't go your way, eh?
Sorry about that.
Had two...the last one 13 years and counting.
you must be an expert on GTI's then. i bow down to your superior knowledge.
Not an expert by any means...but seemingly significantly more knowledgeable than you about certain things.
if only you showed said knowledge in your posts eh.
I try. You just choose not to read it.
by the way don't you have some more shopping to do?
You really don't read too good do you?
I already said, I got the shopping in yesterday.

Dude, that was totally meant as a very light hearted joke. You've taken it way too seriously.

Nah....I'm just bitter that there's not a Morrions near me.
You'll be able to fetch your shopping in your new shopping car soon though... :lipsrsealed:

Bloody hell, you really are an insecure guy. Relax a bit, its Friday, were heading home soon and its the weekend.
Oh, and I'd appreciate that if your going to talk about me, you talk to me directly.
-
you have owned the same car for the last 13 years? that actually was the answer i was looking for. means you're a pikey with a sh1t car. instead of talking sh1te on a forum why don't you go out and earn some decent money, you might be able to change your car a bit more often.
-

Hah!
Nice try...
Go and earn more so I can buy another S3/GTI/911/vRS that I bought whilst keeping the GTI...the same GTI that will leave you sitting on any backroad you care to point it at.
I never said it was standard...
Another fine example of assumption...you make yourself look more stupid by the second. Keep it up...

Pick your toys up little boy, and grow some balls.
You'll have to try harder to upset me...you must be running out of 'witty' jibes, no?
If you didn't care, you wouldn't keep trying to get a response....and then throwing your toys away when things don't go your way.

i know, i'm running out of toys here, you're just so witty and clever - i think i'm going to go home and cry about it. and i'm not trying to upset you, i don't care if you don't respond, all i care about is wittering away the last half hour before i leave work - so thanks for being a troll and helping me out - most appreciated!!

My pleasure!
Have a good weekend...

i dont see what the point of all this talk about what a car is or is not. As much as I like my car its a tool.... a tool for getting me from a to b. if i could call it anything i might be tempted to call it "bus replacement service", sounds a little more technical then "shopping car"
-
"bus replacement service"
 Great idea. Everyone should have one so we can get rid of the sodding buses, bus lanes, bus stops, queues of sad looking people standing at the side of the roads, etc....
To keep on topic, I call my car 'the car'.
