Title: Imobilizer

Hi all, :)

I did a search, but it only gave me 2 threads in the cars for sale section.

Iv'e bought myself an alarm with imobilizer, and Iv'e wired it up.

The central locking works through it ok and everything works fine, but
I'm left with 2 wires now, for the Imobilizer.

I dont know what wire to snip for these wires to bridge across.  I'm not
much of a lecy guy.  The 2 wires aren't polarity specific, (black stripe to say
it's negative) they are just plain green.

Thanks to an ignition thread here I found out last night which wire is +15

you probably need to wire those into the fuel pump or starter wire. ie, bridge them after cutting so the wire for the pump now goes through the alarm system. make sure those 2 actually join with a voltmeter or something before you cut wires and make your car 'imobilised' ;)

I asked someone who fits car alarms for living.

The wire I have to snip is the Red with Yellow stripe. (Fuel Pump)

Says if I unclip the fuse box, to look for the Red/Yellow cable that runs
from the back of the box and then it runs back under the carpet.

He reckons it's the best option rather than go for the starter wire,
as the car can be bump started to get a car away.

After spending a few hours looking for that Red/Yellow cable, (And not finding it) my head kicked in to thinking mode.  The fuel in my car isn't controlled through electronics, (It's mechanical, not a fuel injection) Dooooh!!

I'll have to take the starter or ignition method of imobilization.  And sort out something else to stop it being bump started (Dead lock of some sort)

There are fuel line locking devices, i have seen them before! uses a stoplock type key to allow flow or not! don't know what it's called though :(


Also get a removable steering wheel, can't get far then :)

Hmm, thanks.  I'll keep an eye out for one of those fuel lock things.
