Hot water and washing up liquid?
-
Fairy is a no no as it contains salt. Use something like quick detailer or Super Resin Polish.

This is engine oil, a lot of it and by the time I get home will be dried on in spots!
-
Will be fine. I have to polish off oily hand prints etc all the time, ha ha.

So what about a proper car shampoo?
Oh and dont use Fairy we have Morning Fresh!
-
Proper car shampoo will get some of it off but it'll seep into the paint a bit so you'll need to really get at with polish.

Or pay Guy to do it!

There is indeed that option.

we talking inside the engine bay? you cant beat brake cleaner!
-
Mostly!
Also under the car and everywhere!
-
Gunk, or AG Engine and Machine Cleaner.
-
As above.. Or G101 from autosmart, or megs or poorboys APC.. All very good. Basically you need a degreaser. if it is dried on in places you can try a tar remover like AG tar remover or autosmart tardis.

Well back of car now looks clean and shiny!
Cleaned off the oil with the citrus based degreaser, sprayed onto a cloth first. Then used the Autoglym super resin polish I had in garage!
Problem now is I need to clean and polish the rest of the car!
