Is silver a common colour not seen many around should i go for big bumpers?
thankyou

before you worry about big bumpers you might want to address the fact you have wider rear wheels than front on a fwd car

Welcome Mate,

Don't worry, ignore Shrocco aKa Sharpie.
Welcome along, lovely looking motor

on a fwd motor you'd be wanting all wheels to be the same width. if anything the driven wheels (ie fronts) should be wider.

Welcome to the site, nice start in the vw family. Apparently silver is pretty unusual colour for the mk2, so I understand anyway. There's a whole thread on it in the mk2 section.
Skinny bumpers are the "in" thing at the mo' but ultimately personal pref. Easy enough job to swap but depends what you want.
As for wider tyres on the back, are they really wider? or are they not just stepped offsets? Have these on my BCWs. 15x8 all round but deeper dish on the back. Check the side walls of the tyres to confirm if they are wearing the same width of tyre or not.
The only thing that'd theoretically be wrong with wider tyres on the back of a fwd would cause understeer when pushing on as the front tyres would break traction before the skinnier fronts and as rears are only really there to stop the back end dragging along the ground.
But like I say I don't think they are actually wider at the back, just appear that way as they have a deeper dish out back and the person who made the original comment perhaps doesn't know his earhole from his @rsehole...
Oh and the Azevs are horrid, you should give them to me to avoid any further embarrasment

That looks well nice! Deffo keep the small bumpers, works so well with those wheels.
If it were mine I'd go for some chrome stripped bumpers and change the grill for a badged one. But whatever you decide to do it looks from those pictures you've got a really tidy and unusual colour MKII Gti as a base.

So the tyres are 10mm difference front to back, could be they have fitted narrower tyres to the front for some reason?
Not going to make a massive difference on a road car.
I'm still pretty sure the wheels are all the same diameter just different widths of tyres.

stunner mate!
really nice that!
-
bonjour dude! thats a nice ride. old skool skinny bumpers aswell. fresh!

i do wish i picked up a MK2. very nice indeed.
if havin wider wheels on the front in relation to rears is a problem then theres a sh1t load of cars on the road that are in deep doodoo. its fine and looks the mutts.
