I replaced my distributor as on vagcom it was saying the Hall sender required adaption on the measuring blocks but is not throwing any errors. So I changed it incase that was causing the car to run sluggish once warmed up.
However the replacement one I have fitted vagcom says it doesn't require adaption but on 2 of the other values for the Hall Sender they are outside specification but are still not throwing any errors. It runs ok but is still slugish once its warmed up. If these 2 values are outside specification could this cause a problem ?

where are you getting these 'values' from?? some of them have to read when the engine is up to temp, ie. water upto 80 *c.
-
The values are from the Hall sender which is measuring block 007 which lists the below values. It was up to temp and idling.
1 Co-ordination ( Specification 57 - 60 or 1.0 ) Mine reads 2.0
2 Co-ordination2 ( Specification 5 - 8 ) Mine reads 9.0
3 Altitude Correction ( Specification 0.85 - 1.15 ) Mine reads 1.12
4 Operating Conditions ( Specification 00000000 ) Mine reads 00000000
I have highlighted the 2 values that are outside spec.
On my old Hall sender number 4 was showing 00010000 which vagcom says if you get this value then your hall sender requires adaptation.

yeh sounds right, have you made sure the dizi is aligned with tdc? ie when engine is at cyl 1 tdc the dizi arm should be in line with no1 cyl in the cap.

The cam was set to the marking on the head and dizzy was inserted in the same position with the rotor arm pointing to the marking on the dizzy. Revs past 5k so I assume its correct !!
-
Just made a 1 -2mm adjustment to the dizzy and now it reads
1 Co-ordination ( Specification 57 - 60 or 1.0 ) Mine reads 60
2 Co-ordination2 ( Specification 5 - 8 ) Mine reads 7
3 Altitude Correction ( Specification 0.85 - 1.15 ) Mine reads 1.12
4 Operating Conditions ( Specification 00000000 ) Mine reads 00000000
So now all within spec !! Result as I was expecting the dizzy to a pig to turn as the old one was a bugger to get off !!
