Just saying hi. I've just bought a Mk4 1.8 Gti and will be picking it up next week. This is actually my first car but i'm not new to vehicle forums as i've been riding bikes for a few years and am an active member on Triumph675.net.

Any advice people would give me on the Mk4? I'ts an Ebay job but full service history, 114k with full service just done, very well cared for inside and out, new Yokohama tyres, recent front wishbones, ball joints, engine stabiliser and rear shocks replaced (think it's been the wifes shopping car). I know about the water pump issues but is there anything else I should pay close attention too? I think I've got a good deal for £1700 MOT'd.

Don't know the engine code yet as I haven't picked it up yet. It's a 1.8Gti non-turbo (125bhp) and was first registered in January 1999.
