Title: Multimeter Settings Help
Post by: greencode on 19 September 2009, 12:08
My ABS light is on (mk3 16v golf gti) so I decided to go and buy a multimeter to test the ABS Sensor. The thing is the multimeter has about 20 settings and I've no idea what I'm supposed to have it on!

Can someone please have a look at the image below and let me know a) what setting the dial should be on and b) which holes the black and red connectors should go in.

Also, when testing should I turn the ignition on or will it come up with a reading without that?

Sorry for my lack of knowledge when it comes to this.

Thats fine the way youv'e got it it should read 1000 to 2000 ohms. The black wire goes in the com and the red goes in the v/ ohms (like an upside down u), far right on picture. Follow this guide.
