just got to work out what other bits i can removed to be buffed up?? cant be anything with any tiny air/oil/water ways as media can get stuck in teeny holes.......

a bit of metal polish and that'd come up well shiney!

i've see them for mk3s on ebay sometimes, often go for around 50 quid.

nice idea!!, the lower inlet looks nice polished, hmmm must take 16v off road for a few days and get it done, will look a bit pants if i put the rocker and top inlet on being all shiney and that and leave the lower looking furry!!, shame i aint got a spare lower, would save alot of time!
the hardest bit about doing these is trying to flat down the 'grain' from the castings, GavG60 started to do this on one of the legs, i prepped a bit then just left em rotating for 6hrs, there not mirror/mirror polished as some of the grain is near impossible to remove but there good enough to tart the under bonnet view of my 16v!!

looks very nice ;)

just realised something weird (to me :P ) about the shape on the mk2 ones..
where does the throttle body go? on a mk3 its in the top left hand corner
-
same place. top left. clair's is on the top right though.
-
oh right.. i cant see where it bolts onto it from those pics..
just found a couple pics in the gallery.. looks it sticks off at a 45 degree angle? whereas the mk3 one is directly inline with the space at the back across the manifold?
on a mk3 the throttle cable +spriny bit is hidden at the back.. its really really bad for access.. looks tidier than having it slapped over the top tho
you can kinda see here http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=716

Looks minty, that ;)
Just a shame we don't all have access to such facilities at work :-\
Will be interested to see what it looks like fitted
