it shouldnt chatter !!!!!     and you need a "dump" valve   or  a recirculation valve  it soposed to go to the low pressure side of the induction system but after the AFM.

chattering is bad tho sounds like a bit of turbo surge

When it 'chatters' something is wrong (normally with the DV itself) such as the diagphragm (spelt right )
When I had the standard Bosch one it used to be louder but it did chatter, replaced with a Forge and its miles better, but not as loud.

why is it bad to chatter its just charge air coming back threw the turbo when the throttle body is shut all my rs turbos have done it and had no problems it must just be the golf turbos just are not as strong

yeah i think its where the air is being pushed the wrong way through the turbo and its going over the fins in the opposite direction. and yes the golf's turbo's are not as strong

chatter is compressor stall. It means you'll have to spin the turbo back up when you change gear or come off the accelerator = more lag.

they do chatter a bit more with a KnN style panel filter in place.

i have a 2.0 golf gti , and its my first everyday N/A car in 5 years lol

The chatter isnt all bad, is basically the charge being pushed the wrong way through the induction system and turbo> release throttle, throttle plate shuts, air has to go one way and gets cut up by the blades on the turbo > hey prestoo turbo chatter

NOT Wastegate chatter. Not a problem , unless your running 2bar plus really. The DVs release the pressure obv for quick spool up but on high pressure vehicles, my RS500 runs 2 bar with maram shaft, it stops the shaft being shat out

chatter is bad.   mainly as it really not soposed to do it.

turbos like to spin,   if your turbo is chattering it won't last as long and you'll be gettign more lag.

old skool turbos will take more abuse than new ones but they had heavyer intenals never worked as hard and had no where near the same life expectancy anyway.

Chatter is ghey and means your motor was setup by windowlickers

it means your turbo is not working as effectivly as it should and thats ghey.

also if your tubo will tolerate turbo surge it's not working hard enough in the first place,  recirculating boost means happy turbo thats still spinning nice and fast so more boost comes  sooner in the next cog.
