Title: Removing spark plugs on a 16v ABF Engine
Post by: Judderi on 16 September 2004, 13:52
I might sound daft but i can only remove the 1st and third spark plugs. My spark plug socket that i bought from Halfords doesent seem to be able to drop down the hole far enought on the 2nd and 3rd plugs. Do i need some kind of special tool or just a thinner one? Anybody else had this problem?

I use longer socket extension, having owned a mk2 and mk3 16v the only problem i have ever experienced was on my mk2 where the plug socket was getting stuck where the gasket was overlapping the hole.?

Never had any problems myself. I use a plug spanner, depends what quality tools you buy.
Dont buy Halfords crap.
But best if you use a decent socket set with plug socket.
