HELLO!
Well... What a forum! Have been looking around it for a couple of days now and WOW... what alot of enthusiasts.. And looks like there is one great community here, and growing always!
A little about me..
Just turned 21 in august male, from West Midlands (Leamington Spa, near Coventry)
My first VW was when I was 18 I bought a Golf 1.4 S 1999 T Reg 3dr in Black with about 70k miles, did some standard mods to it, GTi alloys, K&N Panel Filter, lowered 30mm all round and tinted the windows, also spent about £300 on a sound system..
Anyway that reached 118k miles about a month ago and I had alot of problems with the gearbox which was sorted in the end... But I managed to sell it for a wopping £2,000!!
And with a little insurance shopping and autotrader browsing around I found a 1999 T Reg Golf MK4 1.8 Turbo GTi 3dr Black would cost me £620 fully comp!
This car was advertised at £2,800 and had all the trimmings..
- Recaro Seats
- Electric Sunroof
- Full Trip Computer (MPG etc)
I managed to bargain her down to £2,500 because of a few minor things which I will show in another post in a different area :)
It was a lady owner who had had it from 75k miles for 3 years. With a full service history and a timing belt, cambelt change at 80k miles I belive it's mechanically in sound condition.. Apart from the starter motor making a weird grinding noise which my father (mechanic) diagnosed. This I think is a simple fix though and just needs removing and lubing up
I will be making a seperate post anyway showing all the small issues I have with the car that I want to start getting sorted.
So yeh.... I thought I would sign up here as it seems like a great active and full of life, and hopefully by the looks of things i'll be able to get some great advice, help and support... And when I learn hopefully i'll be able to help others too! :nerd:

Welcome to the site.
I'm currently in Leamington at Warwick.
Got the same car just a 5dr 2.slow.
How you got the insurance that low is beyond me :P Bell wanted £1200 for fully comp in leam but that soon bumped up to £1500 when I moved home!
Hope you enjoy it anyway - might see you around who knows!

Yeh £623.70 was my final quote. Need to get some breakdown cover though! And don't have legal cover either.
Do you ever go to the Warwickshire Modified Meets?
I live just outside Leamington in Radford Semele. My dad owns a garage down the bottom of town down Althorpe Street where S&R Motors is (Performance Garage)

Nah I don't think I could actually go.
After lookin at some of the cars it just puts me off.
I'd much rather wait for a nearby VW meet.
