Hey guys my 16v gti turbo needs a new external fuel pump. Will it be high pressure or low pressure? I have been into GSFs lincoln and the guy seemed a few sockets short of a set if you know what i mean and couldnt get alot out of him. Direct links would help!
Thanks....sam

Low pressure is in tank and usually referred to as a lift pump; high pressure is bolted to the floor pan in the fuel pump housing.
16v gti turbo?

Yes...its the standard 16v gti with a turbo kit bolted to it (bit more advanced than that, gives 240bhp at flywheel)

if its standard pump, it will be this set up as on sale at ebay: Item number: 120465175428 or just the pump: Item number: 320423836528. i had to replace mine so i brought a second hand set off ebay. brand new is about £150, £200. make sure its the pump with the banjo thread fitting.

Turbo technics may or will have raised the fuel pressure, so the pump might be different.

k-jet pump good for loads of extra pressure, shouldnt be a problem
-
Yes, but will the pump support the extra flow needed by the turbo?
I'd investigate further to find out what pump was fitted to it, because assumptions have a nasty habit of back-firing, or running lean at high revs.

As above, I have seen one of their conversions before and it was running a different pump.

from my research the std pump can cope with up to around 280bhp, its a pretty high spec unit. though thats probably if on EFI rather than k-jet...
some figures to be found here, if you know the bosch part number:

edit:
right a bit more digging, MK2 16v pump is 0 580 254 033, specs:
Pressure:5bar
Flow:128L/Hr
in comparison the Bosch Motorsport '44 pump (0 580 254 044):
Pressure:5bar
Flow:200L/Hr
