-
my car took 1 week to build and then a week and a half to ship and take delivery so you might be in luck!!

Or ring VW Customer Care on 0800 0833 914 and then option 1 - this way you don't have to leave a message for the salesman and then wait all day for them not to return your call
You'll need your commission number for VW CC
-
Arghhhhhhhhhh
I'm Build Week 42 !!!!!!! When I was told 39 it wasnt confirmed, now confirmed as week 42.
Dealer says I'll have the car 1st week in Nov.
Did get my commission number though.
-
Just called VW, they say, no its definately confirmed for week 40, not 42.
Will be built next week and will have the car mid Oct.
Hmm. I'm inclined to believe VW CC, over the dealer but why would the dealer be a couple of weeks out ?
-
cause the dealer's screen is probably out of date, i would trust VW. that's not so bad, only a few weeks to go!

This is funny, you have two build weeks and i cannot even get one
I would not trust either myself just take an average

In case it gets damaged in transit, it gives the dealer time to repair it, if not they phone you and tell you they have good news its arrived early. Did u get your car from a Glasgow dealer?

Ahh that makes sense, makes then sound like the good guys hehe. Yes, got it from an Arnold Clark in Glasgow.

Charing Cross or Eglinton Toll? Eglinton Toll lot are a bunch of tools they know nothing about cars, when I test drove a car from there in 1988 the inside was covered in mould and the engine was thick with dirt. I wouldn't touch them.

Jordanhill.

The dealer gave me the build week 40. Just phoned him to confirm that it's actually happening this week (after hearing that confirmed build weeks tend to get put back from unconfirmed ones) and true to form I have now been told that it will be wk44. What a p!sser!

Can I direct you towards 'A-For-Audi' in Clydebank? Better than the VW Jordanhill f*ckers who completely got my mis-fire issues wrong. :afro:
Example: Crow Road wanted £71 to change coolant and £50 to change brake fluid. 'A4A' did it £69 all inc VAT.

I did the exact same, phone your dealer back and ask for the com number. Then phone VW and ask them directly. My dealer originally told me week 39, and then when I called week 42, then when I phoned VW they said week 40 and thats confirmed.

Yeah not good is it.
I think/hope that with Arnold Clark being my companies customer, and with the excellent discount I got through my work with them, that they will take good care of me. At least I hope that will be the case.
-
Even if my GTI (when it eventually arrives) needs any work, touch wood, I'll take it to a VW dealer closer to me like Rutherglen one.
-
VWKev. I'm trying to get the comm number from the dealer now. Is it something that they should have to hand?
Once I have the number will VW be able to tell me the latest with my car when I call them?
Thx
-
Get them to do a screen grab off the system. That's what I got it should have your spec, order date and the scheduled deliver date.
-
Thanks for that - I'll give it a go.
-

Yeah, VW will give you the correct info. The VW number to call has been posted in this thread already, a few posts back.

Cheers

Let us know what they say, if you get a woman with a leeds/bradford accent she sounds well cute, said to me last time... 'Oh a GTI, very nice' oh and you have specc'd it very well.
I was gonna ask her out for a drive in it.
-
Well she won't be very impressed with my car then. I'll have to take her down the pub rather than out for a drive ;-)

Id rather stick with what I have and not pay the extra for led's, essentially the led's are an extra expense and as they have came out after the Vw price increase and no-one now will get their cars till jan, they will cost a hell of a lot more. Keyless ignition ? As you dont need your keys anymore, I bet you a lot of people will forget their fob or it ends up breaking. Everything electrical does in the end. I've also never seen the need for it.

Just called VW for an update, car is of course built and is in the UK, it arrived in the port of Tyne and is awaiting transfer to the dealers, the dealer should have it next week at some point.
Yipee.

Think yourself luckie yours is actually here. I have just read on another forum that alot of the unconfirmed build weeks are up in the air and that quite a few have been pushed WAY WAY back. For example one dealer had a build week of week 2 for a GTD thats been moved to week 21  Im scared to phone VW customer service to see if mines been effected.

Wow, what are VW playing at ?
-
Woohoo, just off the phone with my dealer, it will be with him today, he will valet and PDI it and have the car turned round in a day for me. Just need to fax off finance once the car comes in and get him all paid up. Should have the car in the next 2 days or so I rekon.

Apparently virtually every order for week 45 or after moved to week 21 or so and then most back to week 2/3! But they're still expecting them to get confirmed closer to the original dates. All due to 'engine changes/realignment at week 45'...
I think they've subcontracted order management to a firm of Plumbers in Croydon...
-
Presumably this is only for unconfirmed orders after week 45. Mine is confirmed for wk47. Please don't tell me that I've got to call VW CC again to make sure that it hasn't moved.

Would have thought that moving confirmed build weeks would be a PR disaster...
-
I was told just unconfirmed ones like mine!!!
Im putting off phoning for a week or so to let it hopefully settle down :undecided:
-
went to dealer, got my gti within 2 weeks, would of been earlier but busy. so quick.

i presume yours was "ready-made" one then , as opposed to one you specced from the factory? nothing wrong with that, but personally i'd prefer to spec my own given i'm spending such a large amount of money.

thats taking the urine! i mean considering its the recession and not many ppl buying. there are 100s of thousands of all brands parked up in the essex coast- whatsitcalled?.
its because they aint making them if they aint going to be bought. when u add all those combos with the options -they would have loads of unsold stock. but if you're like me just wanted a "normal one" then they're more likely to make them b4 hand as they know its popular - how i got mine in 2 weeks. the audi tt when it came out mark 2, i got that pretty quick also. alot depends on what spec. blk, silver with leather would mean you get it asap. if you're got options then unless they have one on their database then they got to build it.
you know u could ask to see their database to see whats out there, brand new. u may have to compromise on certain stuff like your must have fluffy steerinhg wheel.
-
Why would anyone want to spend at least £25K and not have a choice?
I'd rather wait the 3 or 4 months to get what I was wanting.
-

Agreed. Though I can see the argument that if someone wants a golf for a year or so and then change car, better to get asap and keep options low so as not to suffer quite as much depreciation.
For the rest of us who keep the car longer, defo better to enjoy what we really want and the cost of options is spread over a longer period so it makes more sense.
Kev - not long now mate!!

In august I was happy with 5 doors and basic spec. I did ask to see whats on the system at 2 different dealers and said i would gladdy go for any specs just show me what you can get, there was 2 GTIs on the system thats it!. + the one, one of the dealers had just got in for the showroom (met black everything bar sunroof/xenons). The other dealer had sold his in the showroom. oh and only one of the 2 was basic spec in metallic black. That car the very next day had been ordered by the dealership that had sold all his in the showroom to replace them. All wanted list price not interested as they could not get the stock to sell!
Think the GTI is hard to get try getting a 1.4TSI golf or a scirocco they had sold out till feb/march back in August! VW cannot keepup for demand for the 1.4 fast enough. Recession what recession dealers don't know the meening of the word. I know people who work at many different brands and say they cannot get cars fast enough. Mainly down to the promotions they have on or scrappage. Its a crazy world at the moment that makes no sence.

All done, just waiting on confirmation of finance and insurance document. will pop along around 3.30 but finance needs to be there first.

The 1.4 TSI issue I heard was to due to production problems rather than purely strength of demand (tho clearly a lot of people want one). Something about shortage of supply of engine parts is the main cause for the lengthy queues.
