Title: Retrofit Golf 6 gti steering wheel in Golf 5 gti?

Is it possible to retrofit Golf 6 gti steering wheel in Golf 5 gti (MY 2007)?

I have seen some Golf 6 gti steering wheels in ebay and i was wondering if anyone knows or has done something similar....

If its a MFSW won't you need a new airbag and a new controller

There is a possibility that VW have changed the airbag deployment process for the MK6 to improve safety (i.e. the way the bag is folded, the force at which it fires, and the vent holes in the bag which allow it to cushion your contact with it), in which case it might be compromised if you fit it in the MK5

I would have thought it would fit though.

Also not sure if the MFSW functions would work - isn't there a different range of wheel functions on the MK6 wheel?

Wouldn't it be better to buy a Mk6 steering wheel, and retro fit a Mk5 GTI to it?

i don't care about MFSW functions since i don't have it too in mkv...

The original Mk5 wheel is a treat compared to the button festooned bling wheel on the reskin.
Keep it (unless your dog has chewed it up).

MkV wheel is far nicer IMO

There isn't much wrong with the MK6 but the steering wheel is probably the worst thing about the Mk6 interior, over designed a little tacky IMO.
