Hey guys,
Just wanted a bit of advice to see whether this is a DIY or Garage job?
I've had my GTI for around 2 months now since I've had it it has had a full service but i'm still getting this stuttering/shuddering problem.
I mainly notice it in the higher 4/5 gears at around 30k revs, the car will litterally stutter as if the turbo won't kick in and it won't accelerate, will keep stuttering until you put your foot right the way to the floor.
Not sure if this is a problem with the turbo or just something like the Dizzy? What would you guys suggest checking...?
-
sorry, but is this a TDI or GTI?
-
You sure you got a turbo?
-
Gti is not a Turbo unless you mean mk4 :undecided:
-
Appears from his older posts that he has a 97 8v! :rolleyes:
Hardly a Gti either!

Ok guys, you'll have to give me a break am new to all of this. I've always been under the assumption that the T in the GTI meant that the car had a Turbo? My bad.
And yes I thought the 8v was pretty lacking compared to other GTI's I've test driven before.
Well regardless, still having the above problems?
-
Is it more likely to be the Throttle body perhaps?!
-
Dunno if 8v's suffer from relay problems but worth checking!
Oh btw
G = Grand
T = Tourer
i = injection

Could be in safe mode but usually happens at 5k

Or would it be worth biting the bullet and getting something like a 16v? A lot of talk on here about how inferior the 8v is in many ways?! Will my new back box and K&N fit on a 16v as a straight swap?!
