Title: rear brakes

gonna adjust the rear brakes so the handbrake isnt so high question is do i need vw tool to wind them back or can i improvise

check the handbrake isnt binding as when mine bind the hand brake gets higher
to loosen i spray with wd40 and tap the handbrake mechanism/lever on the caliper up and down with a small hammer till it springs back freely on its own

If you just want to reduce the amount of clicks - you can tighten up the nuts at the lever in the car

thanks ben , ive adjusted the cable but think its the brakes that need adjusting.
so do i need vw tool to wind piston

You don't need a VW special tool - but you do need a brake winder.
