I just thought I'd try to make one good set of clocks out of two duff sets of 2 pin clocks, this involved swappng the speedo and blue plastic circuit from one pod to the other. Now it went pretty well and I managed to do it without breaking the plastic circuit or loosing anything, but after I did it I noticed a slight difference on the circuit sheet..........?

It seems that one resistor on the LHS has been replaced with two, I don't know which one of the two circuits is newer but both have the same part numbers.
I'm wondering if anyone has done this before and seen the difference and if they know whether I have just wasted another hour of my life doing something thats doomed?
:undecided:

It dosn't look likes it been replaced, it looks like it was designed and built like that. From what i can see them two resistors join together and go off into the same bit that the single one does anyway, so i'd say that they'll be fine? Maybe just a design update or somthing?
-
Who cares if they are different. If it works....

DPB - I take your point, I just don't want to go through yet another clock swap if someone on here knows its doomed.
Hasekna - The double resistors are original, just a poor choice of words on my part, I didn't spot that the doubles joined at each end though. I'll look up the resistor values and see if they add up for a start.....?

Yea i suppose you could, i'm not that good with lol but i'd imagine that's a good start. But like darnpb said, as long as they work, it will only take ya 10 mins to change the clocks and you cud just plug them in without sitting them in the dash properly just to test them.

if the part numbers are the same then there shouldnt be an issue. i bet the two resistors together have the same resistance as the one. look up the resistances from the coloured rings if your really bothered
-
I looked up the resistances....the single is 150 ohms, the doubles are 120ohms but the two of them in parallel = 60 ohms... :undecided:

Mate i'd just put them in find out lol

that pisses on my theory then! haha
just fit it and see what happens

Well, I guess I'll just have to bang them in and see what happens, at worst I'll end up with 2 duff sets again. At least the 16v ones in there are working OK, just wanted to get the proper 8v clocks with the right mileage back in there. Thanks all

some mk4 dash panels have the same part number but are made by a different company i think.
