I have a 16v with a 2 litre conversion. The down pipe from the manifold to the centre section has got a split in it and needs replacing. However it has an 8 valve down pipe on at the moment. Why? Does the 8 valve pipe flow better than the 16v or something? The main differences between the two is that the 16v has a small silencer in the middle and the 8v doesent.

you'll probably find it was fitted because it was cheaper than a 16v item
the actual silencer on the 16v item isnt really a silencer its just a cheap way of making two pipes into one ;)
the 8v item has a slightly smaller bore but the difference would be insignificant
