Title: MK3 Clocks, F**KING UGLY!
Post by: jamiegoth on 02 September 2009, 03:17
Ok I wish to replace the clocks on my mk3 but one thing I need to know. How costly is this going to be and can it be done by someone with limited car knowledge.

Do you mean just the dial faces or the complete unit ??

Taking out the dials as a unit is fairly simple, just the headlight switch block being the difficult bit.

There's another thread about alternative clocks.

I was thinking the entire unit.

seat ibiza cupra (upto 99 i think?) are direct fitment with silver dials and orange back lighting (as I've fitted them before but fitted blue led's) but you can buy new dial faces, chrome rings or ddi spec dials

Do you know if they will fit a 8v gti mk3

If you mean the DDI faces then yes,

You just have to make sure that you get the specific ones as the 8v clocks only got to 140mph whereas the 16v & VR6 are 160mph.

Hi
I went and got the Seat Ibiza Gti clocks with the silver dials. But they don't seem to work right. The handbrake light and abs light on the cluster is permenently on. Does that mean i'll have to just use the dials and swap them over?

Sorted it. Took the Ibiza Gti clock faces out and replaced them into my existing clusters. Looks awesome. Also changed the green filters for blue, but the bulbs are too dim. I have ordered some LED's from eBay and will post pics when done.
