Title: MK3 Golf GTI 8v - MAF conversion for cold air flow induction kit.
Post by: tobz87 on 01 September 2009, 09:43
Hey guys,

Another new user to the forum, got my mk3 gti a few months back, done a lot of work on it myself.
On my mk3, the air flow box has the MAF sensor attached to it, i obviously need the MAF sensor to be able to have an extension but on it for my induction kit.

I have bought i stand alone MAF sensor which will go where the air flow box will go so i still have a connection for the sensor but can add myt induction kit.

Any ideas whether this will work or not?

Also any one knows what the standard size for the air pipe on a mk3 golf gti is?

Regards

Hi, and welcome to the site, its not the maf thats on the airbox its the temperature sensor and your induction kit should have provision for it, have a look here.

Cheers for this, i already bought the part to convert! Eeek.

The only thing im thinking however is that my Air box is different to the one on the diagram? It is on the top of the box, and is the standard size of a MAF sensor head, where as the one on the diagram is near the front of the box.

Ill have a look tonight if the MAF sensor on mine is inside the box, rookie mistake but any more advice would be perfect!
