Title: Fiscon Bluetooth
Post by: p3asa on 31 August 2009, 19:56
I'm hoping to add this to the car within a couple of weeks of its delivery.
I understand a VAG.COM setting has to be enabled for it to work.
Can this setting be set by my dealer before I pick up my car obviously without the fiscon installed or do I have to wait until the fiscon unit is in before the setting can be applied.

Basically I'd rather have it done before I get the car to save me going back.

I can't find it any cheaper than from http://www.fiscon.co.uk/ (http://www.fiscon.co.uk/) direct.

Steven.

Cheers pal!

Seen in on fleebay for £380 fitted so not a bad price then.

What's not a bad price? Fiscon or eBay?

Gossa on here installed it in 20 minutes so I reckon you would be giving the installers money for nothing. Plus I never trust anyone to take care of my car the way I do. I can imagine them prizing the facia off and not giving a sh*t about snapping the pins etc.

In my R32 the setting was already enabled, the Fiscon kit worked as plug n play as my car had evidently been already programmed for it.

So to answer your question, Yes, get them to enable the bluetooth car system in VagCom when you have the car booked in. It should be fine. Worst case you can always take it back again. At least you know you tried first.

Cheers just what I wanted to know. I wasn't sure if VAG.COM was a bit like windoze in that options are greyed out and can't be altered until the part is actually connected.

Thanks.

Just an update:
I emailed Fiscon who replied with:

"Yes you can code before hand,
Please tell the dealer to enable telephone (77) on the can gateway installation list. (i.e they are telling the car it has a factory telephone) It will store a fault until the fiscon is fitted but that will be fine"

Mmmm I wonder if they would do a group buy if enough folk were interested??

Steven.

I think they did a group buy over on the scirocco forum, 10% off I think?

Fiscon is a doddle to fit but I have not installed the mic wire as neatly as a proper installer would do it but neat enough for me....

Thanks Gossa I had a look. They got 12.5% off which brought the price down to £300 near enough!!

I'll email Neil and see if he can do a similar deal for the golfgtiforum.

Cheers

Good man, I'm definitely getting it when my car arrives.

Let us all know if you get something sorted, cheers!

Ok guys I've been in touch with Fiscon and they can preliminary offer the same as the scirocco deal however this has yet to be confirmed.
They got 12.5% off supply or supply and fit at Milton Keynes.
We need at least 10 to go ahead with it.
I'll move this over to the Group Buy section here http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=127988.0 (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=127988.0)

Cheers

It's still a tad expensive for what your getting though, isnt it ?
Title: Re: Fiscon Bluetooth
Post by: p3asa on 02 September 2009, 11:21
It depends really. VW's oem is dearer and not as compatible with the amount of phones the fiscon is.
Any BT headset I've used has been poor and cumbersome if you forget to charge or if it runs out half way through a call.

I'm just treating it as an extra that has been added to the car especially since I was too late to add the winter pack to my car

Only if your phone is compliant with BT sms. What phones are I don't know.

You want your name on the "interested list" group buy?

Hats off to Fiscon, they are now talking about offering a free fitting service if they can get enough bodies.

Good service indeed!

Ah well, I've gone for the factory fit anyway since not that much more and no faffinf required.

Ok you'll have better connectivity, but my phone (nokia) works fine and I can use the "proper" phone button on my steering wheel :)

with the fiscon?  i thought from another thread that the aftermarket bluetooth kits utilised the OK button on the right only...?

Guys, where did you fit the mic? searching around the web it seems it can go in the overhead light space, somewhere on the dash by the instrument cluster or on the pillar (RH side of windscreen).
Mine was delivered today and I just want an easy way to fit it with decent mic reception but without wrecking too much trim etc.
I'm looking at the pillar at the side of the windsceen but what about the airbag, is it safe to remove trim there and how do you get the wire around it?
Do you really need to disconnecto the battery to fit it? it seems that all you have to do is disconnect radio plug and reconnect with the Fiscon part?

Could anyone outline their installation in terms of how they routed wiring, where they sited the bits etc?
Cheers

Seems to be up the door pillar.
I've read others say not to disconnect the battery.

Hi guys. Interested in getting this fitted but the compatability list does not mention the Blackberry Curve 8900. Does anyone know if this is compatable with the fiscon system?

Picked up my new spanking White GTI yesterday!! RCD 510 with Dynaudio. zenons and monza shadows.

Now... VW fitted my fiscon basic plus system which works great with te RCD 510.... BUT - the Steering wheel controls do nothing at all an the MFD display does not show anything to do with the fiscon kit. As I understand it shouldn't both the Rcd and the MFD work simultaneously!??

And the shouldn't the call button on te steering wheel work??

Is it faulty, have VW fitted it incorrectly??

Help?

quick bump given recent interest

also did we work out if you can do voice dialling with the fiscon?  e.g. for the vw kit, you select any of your phone's address book contacts, you can assign an "audio name", i.e. you read out their name, and then you can press the left hand call/ mic button, say "call name", the name you assigned and then it calls for you.

a better system than my old bmw's one where you'd have to set the audio tag and number separately of the phone's address book.  i spent ages re-entering numbers... looked a right muppet sitting in my car talking to myself!

Must be phone dependant as my text messages are displayed.

Keelaw: I've not seen any mention of voice dialling. Sounds a good system if it works. I can remember when phones just came out with it and it would constantly phone the wrong number!! Best system I ever used was "Wildfire" on Orange.
