yes they can refuse to accept cash
got to ask though - why not just stick it in the bank and use your card to pay it?? or get a bankers draft :undecided:
-
Why is that?

Money Laundering. Only Drug Dealers tend to want o buy brand new cars with cash.

they can refuse to sell you anything.
Its one of the basic legal terms of a contract between you and the dealer that you both got to agree to the same terms. Part of their terms is not accepting cash. If you don't agree then you can choose to buy from somewhere else. In the sameway you don't have to buy from them and they don't have to sell to you under any circumstances
Did the dealer not make this clear at the time of sale??

Possibly don't feel safe having that amount of money lying about the garage.
What if a few folk paid cash on the new registration dates, would make the criminals sit up and take note that a showroom might be a decent place to rob!!
Bankers draft would be your best bet or pay the cash into your account and pay by debit card.

No they didn't make it clear.
+ The fact my money doesn't sit inside a bank account is I dont keep it there due to a court order that will force me to pay money back other then my nice £1.50 a week that im doing at present.
-
Its all to do with goverment money laundering rules. IIRC theres a sugested 7K limit for cash.

And at more than £1.50 a week at a bet,no wonder we had a credit crunch when people can just shirk off paying off debts.
