I am gutted ordered my new GTI on the 30th of May with a delivery date firstly of end july. Then that changd to 5th sept build week 34 that I could just about cope with but I have now been told by the dealer it was a missbuild ( put 17" on instead of the 18" shadows that I ordered) The factory told the dealer it would have to be a re order with a delivery date of jan 2010! The dealer has now changed another customers order to get my wheels so it should be ready in oct to swap onto my car
-
Am I the only person who thinks that story sounds a bit odd?
Rolfe.
-
no, if it was a spec interior or gearbox / colour then maybe,
but wheels - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :undecided:
-
I think you need to lay the smackdown on your dealer mate!
Absolute cobblers they be talking, wheels you can get hold of an swap them on at dealer. Knobs!
-
I didn't realise removing 20 nuts and swapping 4 wheels could take months? :D
-
rubbish, their c0ckup.. keep the same delivery date and make them order 4 new wheels and premium tyres.. stamping your feet a little can go a long way in a crowded showroom
-
At least the deal still stands and I am putting loads of miles on my mk5 gti trade in while I wait till oct for other customers gti to arrive with my wheels on it ! They tried to order wheels from stores with no joy. Will be looking to be compensated in some form or other.
-
Why can they not simply order the wheels as spare parts? Then fit them.
Why do they have to change another persons order that would upset me if i was that person as there option sticker on there car will be wrong too. Im guessing they won't do this because alot of parts departments are actually run/owned seperate from the dealership chains when it comes to VW. But if they had contacted VW they should simply send them as spares. Afterall its not like VW won't be geared up for warrenty claims on the shadows as they are always getting white worm.
-
That's aweful customer service. If they quote Jan delivery. I will ring around and take my business elsewhere!
-
jeez - that is shocking... how can the wrong wheels equate to a mis build?!
agree with the others, they have to compensate you big time, thats over half a year wait if Jan 2010! simply not acceptable.
i thought the factory was running slightly ahead of schedule... so they should have capacity to build a few "extra" cars to compensate for incidents like these and not affect other customers' cars
good luck!

I agree with the comments above: there's no need to go mad, just calmly renegotiate the deal and remind them that there is a late-delivery penalty written into each new car order form. The dealer is required to write two dates on the form: a date after which the customer agrees to pay for and take possession of the vehicle and the latest date by which the dealer is required to provide the vehicle. Read the small print on the back of the UK order form, but normally this is an EU-wide directive.
-
This really sounds fishy,
To me it sounds as if somebody else has got your car!!!!!
I agree with everyone else, go in and stamp your feet. Also ask for written confirmation from your stealer on this "Missbuild".. You could also phone VW uk and ask them for an explanation.
-
More likely is it's been dinged on delivery and they need an extra few weeks to order parts/touch it up in the bodyshop or similar I reckon!
-
Y'all realise you can go on VW's car finder and find delivery mileage GTI's for sale right now. No waiting no schmaiting.

Pricks 4got to put my Flat tyre sensor on mine, That was classed as a missbuild also. Guess I got a friday car also
-
I have no doubt in my mind that come tomorrow afternoon someone else who didnt ask for a discount will be driving around your car :lipsrsealed: I would persure this a little further without a doubt!
The wheels can be ordered by VW from Germany and arrive in 7 days.

had a look for something close to my spec. Mk5 Pirelli popped up for £26k!!
tho... there is a black DSG 5 door with leather and 5k miles for £25k. thats good value and available now! no ACC, Xenon or RCD510 though
-
Don't know about other extras but I'd imagine if it was just the RCD510 then the dealer would do a deal to upgrade it for possibly the factory price if they were to get a definite sale.
Looks to be some decent bargains on the site. A couple under a 100 miles if folk aren't that bothered about extras and don't want a wait.

And they are prolly the same cars they gave to that Ross bloke or down at Millbrook. No thanks lol
-
A pirelli with 9k on the clock for just under £25k!!!! VW dealers dont half make me laugh

Just don't pick a red or white one
Most of them are going to get screwed anyway
-
Or silver.

Does any1 have the feeling? That they actually just found a car similar to urs for sale direct instantly. The dealership got themselves a discount and thus made more money? However the only catch that it didn't have the 18" monza's.
I mean on the scale of it. Surely its a pretty glaring mistake missing the wheels off on the factory floor?
-
^ Seen it happen a few times with the wheels. I can even remember an edition 30 arriving with standard monza IIs
-
I can't believe you a premium for a new car and then get fooked about with delays and such like. Used FTW!

it isn't going to get far...
-
Newb alert. Never bought a new car so I don't know the answer. Surely when you place the order the dealer prints out a contract which you sign detailing the full specification of the car including extras?
-
Yes but you can also specify extras after ordering via the phone which there would be no signature for.
-
This doesn't sound right at all. If it were a genuine mis-build. The dealer would simply order the wheels through parts and bill them to Volkswagen goodwill. I've done it several times. We normally wouldn't even bother to tell the customer to avoid unneccesary anxiety.
What is more likely, is that the dealer hasn't ordered the wheels. This would mean that the dealer couldn't claim the wheels from VW as they built the car correctly. Having just priced them for someone, they would cost somewhere in the region of £2500 including tyres. I guess your dealer would rather pi$$ you off than lose £2500?

Thanks for all your posts, going to contact customer services tomorrow to see if they can shed light on this farce!
-
Any updates?
-
I am sure my dealer must have been on this forum cause the next day I had a voicemail from him apologising again and wanting to give me an update ! I phoned him and he told me car was about to go on the boat & should arrive next week with my 18" monzas following in 2 weeks by which time they will have my number plate transfered. I think it will be a long few weeks!
-
Hmmm, so TT prompts for an update, and lo, there is a good news story.
Perhaps TT is your dealer or works there?!! :-0

LOL, but no thanks - I don't think I could ever work for a stealer these days!
