Title: Change of Alloys and Warranty Implications
Post by: rjwojcik on 30 August 2009, 21:39
Hello Team

Anyone know the definitive warranty implications when changing the alloys.  I'm thinking of going 18 x 8's, so as well as different alloys, they would be a different size as well.  Thanks in advance.

Then, providing the new alloys have the same offset, then the warranty will not be affected (apart from the non-standard alloys, obviously).

I asked my dealer about this before swapping to Interlagos and he said there would be no problem, especially as they were OEM wheels I was fitting. To be on the safe side, I left the 4 Interlagos wheels with them when the car arrived and they fitted them for me (free of charge) which I thought was pretty good of them seeing as how I had bought them privately.

this is good customer service vs the poor customer service on the "Missbuild" thread.  both relating to changing wheels, this shows how easily it can be done...

Yes, I am lucky in having a very good dealer. It works both ways, of course, this is the fourth new car I have bought from them and on the day I went to collect the GTI, I took along a few bottles of ice cold beer (it was 32°) and we all had a jolly delivery experience :)
