Title: tempreture problems

ok put my heater on today for the first time, i let the engine get hot then i noticed that the temp gauge went down, turned the heater off and the temp went back up! any ideas? air in the system maybe?

How much did it go down?
It should go down a bit, as the heater matrix is like a small radiator.

Its under the alternator, take the alternator off, taking the alternator mounting brackets makes it easier but you can do it with it on, then two 10mm studs at the bottom of the water pump holding a plastic pipe, make sure there is a new rubber seal with the new themostat. You will need to refill and bleed your coolant.

how quickly did the temp change? if it happened instantly then it could be an electrical fault, if it happened gradually then I'd say thermostat as above
